These cookies have always signaled the beginning of the holiday season. They smell amazing, the smallest of WHOs can help roll the dough in sugar, and they taste like a small-town Hallmark movie miracle!
Ready to try some? Let's roll!
MOLASSES CRINKLES
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup molasses
2 eggs
4 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
Extra sugar for rolling
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream together sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add molasses and eggs and mix well. Cup by cup add in the flour, then soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Roll dough in balls about the size of a walnut.
(this next part is excellent for small helpers!)
Roll ball in a bowl of sugar and place on parchment paper-covered cookie sheet about 2 inches apart (15 to a pan).
Bake for 12 minutes. Let cool and enjoy!
