Roots:
I was born in Stockton, CA and my family moved to Newport Beach, CA when I was 3. I went to college in Tucson, Arizona at the University of Arizona.
Family Life:
I am married to my college sweetheart, Kevin, who is from San Diego. We have been together for almost 17 years, married for 9. Together we have 3 boys: Brayden (6), Tyler (4) and Chase (2).
Work Life:
Right out of college, I worked as an intern for Senator John McCain in Washington D.C. After my internship ended, I was hired as a staff member for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation –for which McCain was Chairman. There, I worked as an assistant to 2 Investigative Counsels and was exposed to some exciting stuff. After McCain’s term as Chairman came to an end, I returned to Southern California and attended paralegal school at University of San Diego. I worked as a paralegal for about 5 years until I had Brayden. Now, I am a stay-at-home mom, but I do have a little writing job on the side where I write articles for a bi-monthly community magazine.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned through my iGnite experience…
How important it is to take care of myself – get exercise, eat well and foster my friendships. If I take care of myself first, I am a better mom, wife, friend, etc.
The best advice I’ve been given… "It’s not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters.” and, in reference to life with kiddos, someone once told me: “The days are long but the years are short – try and enjoy every moment!”
If I were ice cream, I'd be this flavor...
Chocolate with chocolate chunks. Can you tell I love chocolate?
My celebrity look-alike is…
I’ve been told Carrie Underwood. I know I do NOT have her legs though –wish I did!!
If I am looking forward to....
Seeing my kids grow and flourish in this amazing community of ours. I’m also looking forward to being out of the baby stage! I’m excited to start traveling, camping and adventuring with my boys. …And having some girl trips on the side!
Something people may not know about me is...
I think my career stuff is something people probably don’t know. I also studied abroad for a semester in Seville, Spain – one of the most challenging yet amazing experiences of my life. Finally, and perhaps most important, I can do the worm on the dance floor.
Who inspires you the most and why..
That’s a tough one…a lot of my girlfriends inspire me! I feel like so many of you are amazing mothers and it pushes me to be my best! My parents also inspire me. They have always been really loving and supportive to me and my 3 siblings. My mom is the least judgmental person – very accepting of everyone. My dad’s work ethic and energy is off the charts! They both taught me the importance of being kind to others - something I’ve really tried to stress to my boys. I hope I can provide my kids with the upbringing my parents provided me.
