Yoga
Roots:
I was born at home in Kent, England and graduated from Farnborough College. After graduation, I had the opportunity to travel to the U.S as a nanny. The plan was to stay for one year, but it turned into 30 years, so as you can tell I do like living here. I have lived in L.A, Santa Fe and Austin. I go back to the U.K to visit family at least once a year and sometimes meet my parents in Spain or the Caribbean as they like to travel as much as I do.
Keep calm
and carry on.

Background in Health & Wellness:
I have lead a very active life, from being the captain of the hockey and netball team in the UK also loved gymnastics, swimming and sprinting. In my twenties I was introduced to Yoga by a very good friend, who later became my teacher and mentor. I have been practicing for over 19 years and still enjoy the experience and am grateful to have Yoga in my life. In 2001, I earned my 200 hour Yoga Certificate from Healing In Yoga. I have had the privilege to study with many well known seasons teachers such as: Rodney Yee, David Swenson, Angela Farmer, Shiva Rea and Anna Forest. I am grateful for their guidance and knowledge. In my quest for continuing my education I became certified for Pilate’s Mat in 2009 from Power Pilate’s.
Teaching Philosophy:
I feel yoga can be enjoyed your entire life….B.K.S Iynegar was still practicing up until his passing at the ripe old age of 94 yrs. I have worked with many students with injuries or disabilities…no one should be denied the practice of yoga. It is available to those who want it. Even just deep breathing is so beneficial! Human beings are made up of three components: body, mind and soul. Corresponding to these are three needs, that must be satisfied for a contented life:
The physical need is health,The psychological need is knowledge, and the spiritual need is inner peace, When all three are present there is harmony. So I am trying to create this harmony in my classes that I teach.
When I am not working, I’m:
At Deep Eddy or Barton Springs, enjoying a juice from Juiceland. Hiking on the green belt
or wake boarding. I do love to travel, so I may be in Europe, the Caribbean or Canada. I do
enjoy making healthy delicious food for my friends, and I also love going to movies.
Personal Mantra:
Keep calm and carry on!
My Favorite Quote:
From The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz:
1. Be impeccable with your word.
*Speak with integrity.
*Say only what you mean.
*Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or gossip about others
*Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.
2. Don’t take anything personally.
*Nothing others do is because of you.
*What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream.
*When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others you wont be the victim of
needless suffering.
3. Don’t make assumptions.
*Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want.
*Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama
*With just this one agreement you can completely transform your life.
4. Always do your best.
*Your best is going to change from moment to moment, it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick.
*Under any circumstance simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.
